From a clinical reviewer’s perspective, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common vestibular disorder affecting the inner ear balance system. This educational tool presents commonly used diagnostic tests and repositioning maneuvers for BPPV through clear, step-by-step animations.

Animations depict diagnostic tests for the posterior and horizontal semicircular canals, with the observed eye movements (nystagmus) indicated as positive findings. The visuals assist clinicians in recognizing and interpreting nystagmus within a practical context.

Treatment animations illustrate the repositioning maneuvers, showing the semicircular canals moving in the same plane as the head, with crystals moving through and out of the canals during each maneuver.

BPPV Relief was developed by a physiotherapist with extensive experience treating BPPV, including over 2,000 patients. The app reflects the diagnostic and treatment steps used in her dizziness clinic and embodies practical refinements derived from clinical practice.

The tests and treatments featured are widely used and align with evidence-based recommendations outlined in the Clinical Practice Guideline for BPPV, updated in 2017 by the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation.
